Defining Our Culture

In the process of discovering the core values we aspire to represent, we asked our employees to write down key words they believe describe us.  From that list we voted to select these top seven to represent our Core Values.

Our goal is to have our patients read any one of these values say that was their experience.

Mission Statement

At Mineola Eyecare, we pursue excellence in all we do, offering the most advanced service in the eye care industry. We achieve this through a genuine care for each patient and by providing the best in technology to all our services.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to simply live out the occupational and ministerial calls on our lives through the gifts of the spirit as defined in Galatians 5:22-23. But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  In doing this, we will complete each day accomplishing the purpose the will outlast the world’s definition of a successful business.

History

1946-1973

Mineola Eyecare began over 77 years ago, in April 1946, when Dr. J. Carl Norris opened for business. Dr. Norris graduated from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. The first office was located at 106 W. Board Street. Then in 1963, it was moved to 211 N. Newsome Street.

1973-1989

In 1973 Dr. T.D. McClenny joined the practice after graduating from the College of Optometry at the University of Houston. As more space and parking was needed to accommodate the two doctors, the office was eventually moved to its current location, 1238 N. Pacific. The new office building was constructed in 1984.

1989-2003

Dr. Norris began searching for a new doctor as he neared retirement. In June 1989, upon graduation from the University of Missouri College of Optometry, Dr. Andy M. Hawari joined the practice. Two years later, in July 1991, Dr. Norris completed his career by retiring from the Mineola Eyecare.

Over the next twelve years Drs. McClenny and Hawari worked together to expand the services provided by Mineola Eyecare. As the state laws changed in Texas, Dr. McClenny and Hawari kept pace with cutting edge technology and the optometric training to provide the best vision and eye health care possible.

2003-Today

Then in January 2003, Dr. McClenny followed the call of God on his life and became a full-time foreign missionary.  Dr. McClenny sold his interest in Mineola Eyecare to Dr. Hawari and went to work for the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Since that time Dr. Hawari has continued as the sole owner and operator of Mineola Eyecare. At the end of 2008, Mineola Eyecare added 900 square feet for optical retail and underwent numerous other renovations. As time passes Dr. Hawari has added even more to enhance the patient care and experience. Recently, Mineola Eyecare expanded another 1500 square feet of space in preparation for adding an Optometrist associate.

Mineola Eyecare continues to add and grow with advancing technologies and innovations which are constantly evolving to world of advanced eye care. We now offer cutting-edge technology such as Optomap, OCT scans, OPD Wavefront . Nidek Fundus Retinal Camera, Oculus Keratograph 5M, Macular Degeneration Risk screening, Electroretinogram ERG, Neurolens and MiboFlow.

‘Where there is no vision, the people perish...’ Proverbs 29:18

This scripture identifies the purpose or calling I believe God has assigned for my life. While my occupational training involves the physical vision, I believe clear spiritual vision directs all our lives to live on purpose according to God’s call.

My hope and desire is to fulfill my calling in the work place by being available to encourage and minister truth when the opportunity arises according to Divine appointments. I also hope the love of the Lord is experienced when you come to our office. Our goal each day is to provide an environment of peace, love, joy, gentleness, kindness and patience. If we can accomplish these things then I believe God will be pleased.

Thank you for your business, and I pray you will be blessed.
